Many of you may not have known him well, but twelve year old Michael Balinski, Jr. had a passion for racing and true desire to be a driver. He started here at MMRA in Sr. Novice two years ago, and while he wasn’t able to race often, he enjoyed it immensely. Sadly, Michael’s racing career was cut short this past winter when he was diagnosed with Arteriovenious Malformation. AVM is rare brain defect that Michael was born with, but its symptoms only recently presented themselves. Tragically, after a short but intense treatment program, Michael succumbed to its effects, and passed away this morning. In the words of his father, Mike Sr., his son is now with some racing greats in heaven. It's unfortunate how Michael is meeting Dale Earnhardt, Sr., Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, and many more, but he is meeting them, nonethless. Michael Sr. and brother, Zachary, seem to be at peace for the moment. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Balinski family during this most difficult time. In respect of the family’s wishes, donations should be made to Children’s Hospital of Michigan or the Ronald McDonald Foundation. MMRA will be collecting donations, and will make a donation in Michael’s name to one of the above mentioned charities. If you wish to send a card expressing your condolences to the Balinski family, it can be mailed to: Michael Balinski, Sr., 24823 Beierman, Warren, MI 48091. Arrangements are as follows: The viewing is Thursday, May 27th from 3 - 9PM and Friday, May 28th from 12 - 9PM at the David J. Wysocki Funeral Home, 29440 Ryan Rd., Warren, MI 48092.
